The Elements… 111/365

Elements... 111/365

I don’t do too many things like this…collage I think it is called…but after I was finished processing the images from Saturday, I noticed a bit of a pattern…other than they were all water drops on a leaf…they sort of represented all the elements…well the ones of old that is…

It had rained Friday night…a storm that was pretty close as I tied down the airplane and hurried to pack the bags into the car…and the next morning the yard was littered with leaves full of water droplets…

This is a macro of some floor cover slash mossy plant hat is rampant in the yard…it is very soft despite its spiky appearance…I liked how upon closer inspection, the tips of the leaves are red…

Oshkosh At 3500 Feet… 112/365

Oshkosh At 3500 Feet... 112-365

The flight home, other than being a blast, was uneventful…we made our way south with the wind yet again at out tail, listening to the other aircraft around us…at various stages of landing patterns, approaches and departures…we even caught a “jumpers away” over East Troy airfield and could see over our right wing, the silhouette of the diver and parachute as they drifted to the earth again…sorry, no image that time, I did have to fly the thing on occasion…

Wind Farms..

South of Oshkosh is a huge expanse of wind generators…not that they generate wind, but rather electricity from the wind…somewhat creepy to me in their gargantuan size with impossibly huge blades slowly rotating…the chart showed nine…I think they ran out of ink…

In the interest of not getting too lengthy in post, I will leave it here tonight and post today’s image with tomorrows and then I am back on track gain…until tomorrow…

Balanced Universe… 109/365

Balanced Universe... 109-365

This is kind of going along with my unplanned theme of dark background/light flower that seems to have appeared this week…the title comes from the translation of the name of the flower…Cosmos…this one just beginning to blossom…

Balanced Universe... 109.5-365

…this one at the end…

I am going to be away from the Internetfor the weekend and will not be able to upload anything until Sunday night unless by some miracle I can get the image, process it and upload it before we head out…going to be in Eagle River bad weather or no bad weather…so until then…

They Came in a Wildflower Pack... 108/365

That is what my wife said when I asked her what hey were called, so I guess that is their name…seems a bit long winded to me, but I’m not a botanist…

Digging In… 106/365

IMG_1696-Edit

If the light looks a little strange on this one, it is because it was flipped upside down…It gives one less of a headache this way I think and my daughter insisted it looked better…so there…I liked this one for the way the legs seem to blend in with the stamen of the flower…as though he was really digging into it…

These macros were not as easy to capture as some out there make it look…these little guys move…a lot…more than I thought they would…but then I guess “busy as a bee” was not coined by accident…These were the sharpest of the lot, but I am sure if I worked longer at it and shot more megabytes of images I would have captured an even better one…or maybe I am my worst critic…maybe…

Gratuitous Flower Shots:

(because you all asked for it….or maybe because I happened to take these as well today…anyway…)

Yep, more of the Mexican Sunflower shots, except this time from the back of the flower rather than the front… I am finding out (by accident on the first one “Cosmos”) that a lot of flowers are just as interesting from the back of the flower as they are from the front.  More subtle, but I like the organic symmetry.

I also took this opportunity to play around with Lightroom 2’s new graduated filter feature…the above desaturation was created using it…a nice little feature added from the beta version I was crashing…I mean using…

From the Center... 103/365

Reminds me of rays of light from the darkness…the end of a long two weeks of staff shortage at the shop…perhaps I will be wordier tomorrow but for tonight…

Thanks for Visiting…

Cosmos… 99/365

Cosmos... 99/365

I had a tie for tonight’s image…both  are of the back of a cosmos flower which I thought was just as interesting as the front view…

Cosmos... 99.5/365

While I am not terribly fond of orange (sorry Dana) unless it is the fruit or a soda, I did find its tone in this flower quite appealing…reminds me of a sunrise somewhat…

Journey from the Bottle into the Darkness… 96/365

Journey from the Bottle to the Darkness... 96/365

Take the longest title I have ever assigned an image as a literal translation of what the image is or as a metaphorical statement on what the last year has felt like to me at times and you caught my meaning perfectly either way. Photo-technically (if it is not a word, it is now, so there), I was trying to match some of the light and color saturation and contrast one of my favorite photographers on Flickr has mastered. Please be sure to check his stuff out here
