Another Damselfly… 85/365

Another Damselfly... 85/365

Yep, it’s another Damselfly, but given the abundance of them in my yard and the fact that they make for great macro practice, I have a feeling this will not be my last…so there.

Meanwhile in another part of the blog…I want to take a moment and thank everyone who makes a regular visit to my blog and for all of the great comments I have received as well. You all have brought a lot of excitement to this project for me and have also introduced me to your exceptional talents as well.  For most if not all, I have added your site or blog to my blog-roll, and I highly recommend everyone get a peek at some of the other great artists I have met and commented back and forth to over the last few months.  Again thank you all for your comments and support and as always…

Pale Damselfly… 46/365

Pale Damselfly... 46/365

I was playing around with layers and Lab color in Photoshop and came across a combination that gives the color a pale, creamy look and I am not sure if I like it or not yet but it does give that less saturated look I prefer in images.  I will have to keep experimenting with different colors to see how they react to it and if I get consistent results, I will post the technique… Until then…

Red Damselfly… 29/365

Red Damselfly... 28/365

A special thank you to Kdownphotography for correcting me on the name of these creatures.  Aparently, if the wings are folded back at rest, they are Damselflies and if they go out to the sides at rest they are Dragonflies.  In any sense, I think they are cool looking and make for some great macro images.  So far I have only seen the two different colorings and being ignorant to the insect world, there could only be the two colorings for all I know, but I doubt it.  Anyone who want to comment about it, please do.
